The reception children at Allerton CE Primary are very excited about the semi-finals on Wednesday. We have written our own chant for England. #comeonengland #itscominghome #WorldCup #ThreeLions #semifinals #westillbelieve
We’re cheering you on @HKane @GarethSouthgate @FIFAWorldCup
This week we have been learning about shapes. We have learnt the names of shapes and words to describe them, for example; curved, straight, corner, side, face etc.
Miss Thompson and a group of children went on a shape hunt in our outdoor environment.
Can you go on a shape hunt at home? Can you describe the shapes that you can see?
Keep up with all your hard work completing the sound/word of the week homework. I’ve attached a few photographs of examples to give you some ideas. We really appreciate your support.
KEY DATE: The Reception trip to Eureka has been rearranged for Tuesday 17th April. The packed lunch arrangements will stay the same as you have requested on the trip letter slips returned to school. Please ensure you pay the £7.00 cost via ParentPay as soon as possible.
On Friday we celebrated Chinese New Year. We held our ‘Story café’ event and had a big turn out from parents across Nursery and Reception. We retold the story of the Zodic calendar and then joined family members in class to complete a range of Chinese New Year activities. These included; making lanterns, copying Chinese scripts, ordering Chinese Numbers and dressing up in traditional Chinese Clothing. We finished the afternoon by performing a dragon dance!
Our class were very excited to have their first PE lesson on Thursday. I was very impressed at how independent they were at getting dressed and un-dressed into their PE kits. We thought carefully about finding a space in the hall. The children explored moving in different ways around the hall space.
Wow! We definitely love dancing in class RV! This morning we had Lucy a dance teacher from ‘Flex Dance’ come in a teach us a dance routine. She was very impressed with our listening skills and we managed to follow her instructions to complete a routine. We then performed the routine in groups to each other and discussed how an audience should react after the performance.
Miss Vickerstaffe and Mrs Thompson were also impressed by our independence skills when getting dressed and undressed into our PE kits. If your child has not brought a PE kit into school, please can they do so by the end of the week.
